People First of Shelby County Fall 0f 2007

September 15, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM   Tie Dye Party.  Please bring a washed, white T shirt to   be tie-dyed.  Wear clothing that can get dirty.  Also bring $3 to pay for supplies.  We will work behind The Arc building at 1960 Chandalar Drive.  You will be taking the t-shirt home to be washed.  We will have all the shirts printed after they are dyed.  Pizza and drinks provided. Please make a reservation. 422-5006 before September 14.

At our September 22 meeting we will make plans for other activities such as:

Bring a memento of your summer experiences to share—vacation, conference, important family event, etc.  Also, bring a favorite snack to share.

Sharing Your Story. (Part I) All of us have a story to tell.  Jeremy Goike will start off our discussion of sharing our stories.  Jeremy is a fulltime employee of Vocational Rehabilitation and has his own D.J. business, his own home, and has become a national speaker at conferences on disability issues around the country.
Don’t forget a snack to share.

Sharing Your Story. (Part II) All of us have a story to tell.  Bring items (journals, photos, articles, mementos) that represent your personal story.  We will help each other create our own stories to share.  We might set a date to complete them if we don’t finish this night. Don’t forget a snack to share.
 GOING PLACES.  PEOPLE FIRST IS GOING PLACES! Let’s take a Road Trip.  We can take a tour of The Birmingham News/ visit a courtroom trial, jail/Visit the Shelby County Commission or a City Council meeting.  Let’s set a date and go.  We need to know more about decision-makers in our community and let them know more about us.

We need volunteers for a t-shirt committee to design and take orders for our new t-shirts. 
We need a family to volunteer to host a Holiday Party in December. We will assist the family.
